HOW DO WE HELP THEM?
Our vision is for a healthy, compassionate, vibrant world. Our mission is therefore to ensure the Community Benefit Sector has practical tools for accomplishing those visionary ends. We do this work by convening, engaging, mobilizing and supporting the sector, to ensure we all have the means to make our world an amazing place for the future generation, and it all begins with you and me.

ABOUT US
We’re a nonprofit organization committed to bringing clean, safe drinking water to people and education materials to kids in Canada and  developing countries.
Volunteers are the roots of strong communities. Just like roots are essential for trees to bloom, volunteers are essential for communities to boom. Thanks to volunteers, our communities grow strong and resilient. Even the tiniest volunteer effort leaves a profound and lasting trace in a community, much like tree rings that appear over time. April 10 to April 16, 2016 is National Volunteer Week (NVW), a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers.
WHAT WE DO
IN THE NEWS
Canadian Foundation for Development  and Empowerment  is a non-profit, charitable foundation based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist the educational systems of Canada and the Caribbean by giving children a solid foundation for growth and intellectual development through the provision of relevant learning materials.
The foundation also strives to provide furniture, libraries and toilet facilities to needy schools and orphanage centres. CFDE  international programming is based on a comprehensive readership initiative .
Together with our local partners, we work with teachers, librarians, writers, and publishers in developing countries to support and sustain the development of literacy learning in schools from Kindergarten to Grade 12.  based on two essential elements: interesting books that are relevant to the readers and written in languages the readers understand; and meaningful engagement with these books through high quality teaching.

Drawing on  years of experience, CFDE is based on best practices in the teaching of reading, writing, and critical thinking, along with a proven model of successful collaboration with in-country partners, to ensure long-term sustainability of our impact.
